R2Bees were on Nando Leaks when they talked about how the rapper likes to work. They said he does not like his songs mixed too much. Two of his biggest records, they said, were never mixed at all.
What R2Bees said
R2Bees pointed to “You Go Kill Me,” which they called one of his biggest songs and arguably one of the biggest to come out of Ghana. According to them, it was not mixed.
They said the same about “Baby,” another big song they are on with him. In their words, Sarkodie does not like songs that are mixed too much.
Sarkodie backs it up
Fans did not have to wonder if it was true. Sarkodie replied on X, formerly Twitter, and agreed.https://x.com/sarkodie/status/2112820997153796322?s=20
“Most times engineers mix the feel out of the music when they get technical… sometimes just let it be if it doesn’t need much,” he wrote. He added that whatever brought the melody or lyrics out of the artists in the studio should not get lost after the mix.
What he means
For Sarkodie, the feel of a song matters more than a polished sound. The mood in the booth, the way a line hits and the tune that first made an artist excited are the things he wants people to hear. If a mix kills that, he would rather leave the song as it is.
