Ghanaian actor, comedian and TV personality Seth Kwame Dzokoto has reportedly died. He was 51.

He collapsed on Thursday, 22 October, during a panel discussion on Owass FM in Tarkwa, in the Western Region. He was rushed to a hospital in Tarkwa and pronounced dead on arrival. A close source in the National Democratic Congress (NDC), his political party, confirmed his death. Details about what caused it have not come out yet.

The man behind Judge Koboo

Most Ghanaians know him as Judge Koboo from the TV series Efiewura. The role made him a familiar face in homes across the country.

He also hosted Edziban on TV3, a show that takes viewers around Ghana’s food joints and local dishes. On top of that, he did comedy and voice-over work for adverts, and he worked in radio at Skyy Power FM in Takoradi and Hello FM in Kumasi.

Politics and school

Dzokoto ran for the Tarkwa-Nsuaem parliamentary seat on the NDC ticket in 2016. He lost to George Mireku Duker of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He kept studying too. In August 2025, he graduated from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College with a master’s degree in Defence and International Politics.

Still working to the end

Dzokoto was still active in film. He attended the media launch of The 70 Slate: A Cinematic Celebration of Ghana at 70, a three-film project by filmmakers Shirley Frimpong-Manso of Sparrow Studios and Peter Sedufia of OldFilm Productions. The films are meant to mark Ghana’s 70th anniversary of independence in 2027, and he was named in the cast.

His death comes only weeks after photos of him looking unwell went around on social media.
