Interior Minister Unveils Insurance Package for Fire Service Personnel

Minister for Interior introduces a new insurance package for Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) personnel who suffer injuries or lose their lives in the line of duty.

The Minister for the Interior, Mr. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has introduced a new insurance package for Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) personnel who suffer injuries or lose their lives in the line of duty. The announcement was made during the Passing Out Parade of Recruit Course 55 at the Fire Academy and Training School in Accra.

The insurance package includes benefits for firefighters with non-permanent injuries (GH₵50,000.00), permanent injuries (GH₵100,000.00), and families of officers who lose their lives in the line of duty (GH₵100,000.00). Families of officers who die a natural death while in service will receive GH₵50,000.00.

Mr. Muntaka emphasized that the new insurance package aims to boost morale and provide financial security for GNFS personnel. He stated, “This is just the beginning. We are committed to improving welfare packages, logistics support, and working conditions for our gallant fire officers, whose sacrifices often go unnoticed.”

The Minister also highlighted the issue of prank calls to emergency lines, warning that such misuse of resources can delay real-life emergency responses and result in loss of lives. He commended the recruits for their resilience and discipline, urging them to serve the nation with integrity and dedication.
